Nigeria Captain Wilfred Ndidi Speaks on FIFA Complaint Uncertainty Ahead of 2026 World Cup Play-Off

Nigeria captain Wilfred Ndidi has addressed the uncertainty surrounding Nigeria’s complaint to FIFA over the eligibility of certain players from the Democratic Republic of the Congo as the intercontinental play-off for the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches.

The issue has sparked discussion among fans while the football world waits for a decision. However, the captain of the Nigeria national football team made it clear that the players are not allowing the situation to distract them from their preparations.

Ndidi admitted that the delay in getting clarity can be frustrating but stressed that the squad is concentrating only on what they can control on the pitch. He also expressed confidence that the Nigeria Football Federation will handle the matter appropriately with FIFA.

“To be honest, I don’t really focus on things I can’t control. We’re only focused on our football and preparing in the best way possible.

Of course, everyone wants clarity, but we trust the Nigerian Football Federation and the authorities to handle everything properly.

As players, our job is to stay ready, stay united, and keep working hard. Nigerian fans always expect the best from us, and we respect that. Whatever the outcome, we will continue to give our all for the country and make Nigeria proud.”
