Nico Williams has admitted he would love the chance to face his older brother Iñaki Williams at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The two brothers currently play together at club level for Athletic Club in La Liga, but represent different countries on the international stage, with Nico playing for Spain and Iñaki representing Ghana.

Iñaki switched his international allegiance to Ghana ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and featured for the country during the competition.

Speaking about the possibility of meeting his brother on football’s biggest stage, the 23-year-old winger said it would be a special moment, although it might leave their parents in a difficult position.

“I don’t know if we’ll meet at some point, but I would like to play against my brother — him for Ghana and me for Spain,” Nico told FourFourTwo.

“It would be a very nice duel. I think my parents would have a heart attack because they wouldn’t know who to support!”
