NFL star Travis Kelce admits he nearly got kicked off his college team for drugs, brother saved his career
NFL star Travis Kelce came close to ending his football career before it even began, as he was nearly expelled from the University of Cincinnati team after failing a drug test. He shared this story with Daily Mail.
Kelce admitted that 15 years ago, while in college, he spent a lot of time at student parties. As a result, before the 2010 Sugar Bowl game, he failed a drug test and was suspended from the team.
"I think it was a very emotional and meaningful thing that happened to me back in college and I brought that all on myself. I think it was just me not living up to my family's expectations and that was probably the biggest thing," Kelce said.
His older brother, Jason Kelce, who was a senior at the University of Cincinnati at the time, managed to convince the football team’s coaches to give Travis another chance and reinstate him.
"I'm forever in debt to this guy for putting his name, our name - the Kelce name - on the line. When I say I owe it all to him, I really do," Travis admitted.
