NFF Orders Super Falcons Technical Crew to Step Down After WAFCON Failure
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has directed members of the Super Falcons' technical crew to step down from their positions with immediate effect.
The federation announced the decision on Monday, August 17, 2026, in a brief statement shared on its official X account.
“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the Super Falcons to step down with immediate effect,” the NFF said.
The decision comes just over a week after the Super Falcons suffered a disappointing exit from the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Nigeria's title defence ended in the quarter-finals on August 8 after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to arch-rivals Cameroon.
The loss also dealt a major blow to Nigeria's hopes of reaching the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil, as the Super Falcons missed out on automatic qualification.
Nigeria were given another opportunity to keep their World Cup hopes alive in the WAFCON play-off, but they suffered another setback after losing 2-1 to South Africa.
