NFF Marks Anti-Corruption Day With Awareness Walk in Abuja
The Management and Staff of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Tuesday held an awareness walk around the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja to mark the 2025 International Anti-Corruption Day. The exercise brought together top officials, including the NFF’s ICPC Desk Officer, Mallam Abdulrahman Maigari, and directors such as Dr Ademola Olajire, Ms Ruth David, Mr Barnabas Joro, Dr Ayo Abdulrahaman, and Hajia Amina Daura.
Head of the NFF Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), Barr. Queen Otarakpo, said the day “reminds us that corruption is not just a legal violation; it is a barrier to development…” She stressed that the NFF must continue promoting a culture where “integrity is non-negotiable, transparency is a standard, and accountability is a shared responsibility.” She added that “corruption survives where silence prevails… but today, we choose to raise our voices.”
Maigari noted that enlightenment and prevention remain central to the ICPC’s mission and praised the NFF for its active role in the anti-corruption campaign.
NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, commended the ACTU for its consistency, saying enlightenment helps institutions understand “little things we do that we are not aware could be anti-corruption.” He applauded the team’s “proactivity, focus, diligence and sense of duty.”
