NFF Backs Chelle as Super Eagles Set Sights on Future
The Nigeria Football Federation has unveiled its post-AFCON roadmap for the Super Eagles, expressing strong confidence in head coach Éric Chelle. NFF President Ibrahim Gusau said the team is now “close to running on autopilot” after finishing third at the 35th Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Under Chelle, Nigeria scored a record 14 goals and went unbeaten in regulation time across seven matches, standing firm against Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Egypt. The Eagles also defeated Tanzania and Uganda.
Gusau said preparations for the next AFCON start immediately, noting, “The journey to the next AFCON starts immediately… We must set to work immediately.” He added that injured players will return, saying, “the future looks very bright,” for Nigeria’s football future.
