NFF Appoints Akeem Busari as New Flamingos Head Coach Ahead of 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially named Akeem Ishola Busari as the new head coach of the Flamingos, Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team.

Busari takes over from Bankole Olowookere, who spent several years in charge and guided the team to a historic bronze medal finish at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.

The new coach’s immediate focus will be preparing the Flamingos for the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, set to be hosted in Morocco.

Nigeria will face either Niger or Guinea in the second round of the qualifying series next month, as Busari begins his tenure with a crucial test.
