Rumors swirled around Neymar’s potential participation in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, with reports linking him to both Mexico’s Pachuca and Brazil’s Fluminense. Marca first reported that Pachuca had considered signing the Brazilian star, seeing a unique opportunity both on the pitch and in terms of sponsorship. But multiple sources later revealed it was Neymar’s camp who offered him to several clubs, rather than the other way around.

Currently under contract with Santos FC until June 30, Neymar attracted interest from Fluminense as well. Club president Mario Bittencourt confirmed that talks took place and that even Renato Gaúcho, a close friend of Neymar, got involved. However, after a polite FaceTime exchange, Neymar declined the offer, saying he preferred to use the Brazilian league’s break to focus on his fitness.

According to Mediotiempo, Neymar’s market value sits around €15 million, and his salary demands — close to $170,000 per month — have deterred many of the 32 Club World Cup participants. Several Mexican outlets also confirmed that Neymar had been offered to nearly all clubs in the competition.

While Pachuca will not be signing Neymar, they’ve reinforced their squad with José Castillo (on loan from Chivas), Federico Pereira, Agustín Palavecino, and Robert Kennedy. Club president Armando Martínez dismissed the Neymar rumors and emphasized the team is still seeking an experienced goalkeeper, a winger, and a striker before the tournament kicks off.
