Newcastle will be unable to make two coveted transfers in the summer
One of Newcastle's objectives for the summer was to strengthen well, but according to the head coach of the ‘forty’ Eddie Howe, it is unlikely to be done.
The club had intended to sign a centre-back and a right winger, but Newcastle's manager will have to make do without them:
‘Probably not, we won't be able to sign them. I understand the questions, but there is always a level of respect to be shown to current team-mates.
I respect every player we have in every position, so it's not for me to answer. We are trying to strengthen the team, we are making the right decisions and bringing in the right players,’ Howe told a press conference.
The centre-back position is a particularly acute one for Newcastle as the main centre-back pairing of Sven Bothman and Jamal Lascelles suffered cruciate knee ligament injuries back last season and are not expected to return until the end of the year.
They have only one replacement: Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.
