The seasoned defender Fabian Schär has made it clear that he is open to extending his stay at Newcastle United beyond this summer.

Details. In a conversation with Blick, the 33-year-old center-back discussed his future, confirming that he does not intend to leave St James' Park unless the club decides otherwise.

However, the Swiss defender is uncertain if the club will offer him a new contract. His current deal with the club expires in June.

Quote. "I have certain wishes. We need to discuss whether my vision aligns with the club's vision. This might be the most likely point for discussion.

We will definitely sit down together soon and see how things go. From a sporting perspective, I am doing well. It would be in my interest to extend his time in the Premier League with Newcastle," said Schär.

Despite his age, Schär remains a crucial part of Eddie Howe's team. This season, he has participated in 31 games across all competitions, clocking an impressive 2,658 minutes. In the Premier League alone, he has started 23 out of Newcastle's 24 matches, proving his importance to the team's defensive setup.

Reminder. Previously, Newcastle set a price tag for Barcelona and Arsenal's transfer target Guimarães.
