Newcastle targets La Liga star as potential Trippier replacement

Newcastle United is planning to bolster its squad ahead of the 2025/26 season by considering a replacement for Kieran Trippier, whose contract expires in 2026. Despite his crucial role and leadership qualities, the defender's future at the club remains uncertain due to age and a potential reduction in salary burden.
According to Venezuelan channel DirecTV, head coach Eddie Howe is keeping an eye on Real Sociedad's right-back, John Aramburu. The Venezuelan international is also on the radar of Atletico and Inter. The defender's contract includes a release clause of £51 million.
Despite the high cost and Aramburu's key role in Imanol Alguacil's system, Newcastle might attempt to negotiate more favorable terms, especially if they qualify for the Champions League, which would strengthen their negotiating position.
Aramburu's versatility, capable of covering the entire flank, makes him an attractive option for rotation with Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall, who remain essential parts of the team's defense.
