However, Newcastle faces stiff competition: the list of suitors for Gomes is rapidly expanding, with several top clubs from both La Liga and the Premier League now in the race.
The Portuguese club has no intention of letting their prized asset go on the cheap. Reports indicate that Porto has set a minimum negotiation threshold of €50 million.
