Newcastle is considering the possibility of inviting Girona head coach Michel Sanchez, Marca reports.

According to sources, the English team's management is very pleased with the work of Michel in La Liga. Newcastle is thinking about replacing Eddie Howe and appointing Sanchez as head coach.

Having finished his playing career, Michel remained in the system of Rayo Vallecano. In February 2017, he succeeded Ruben Barajah as head coach of the club's first team. In his first full season with the team, he led them to win the 2017/18 Segunda and, accordingly, promotion to La Liga.

He also led Huesca, and in the summer of 2021 became the head coach of Girona. In the 2021/22 season, Girona finished sixth in the Segunda, but later had a good playoff run and made it to La Liga. Thus, Michel was promoted to the top flight in his first season with his third team.
