Due to serious injuries to centre-backs Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles, Newcastle need to make sure they are replaced. And one signing of Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth is not enough.

"The Magpies have turned their attention to Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. According to talkSPORT, Newcastle have felt no resistance in negotiations and are moving to sign him.

Eddie Howe's side have virtually no rivals left in the race to sign the England defender. Arsenal, who were interested in Guehi at the start of the transfer window, showed no concrete interest, while Liverpool soon refused to buy him as they believe he is not suitable for them.

Thus, Newcastle are alone in this race, but the Magpies will need to give £60 million for the 24-year-old defender.

They also need to agree a deal with Guehi himself, agreeing the terms of his personal stay at St James' Park, but he is not opposed to moving there himself.
