Newcastle has officially announced the departure of co-owners
Premier League club Newcastle United has announced the departure of co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi, as reported on the club's official website.
From 2021 to 2024, Staveley and Ghodoussi, who are married, reduced their shareholding in the club to 6%. They have now completely exited Newcastle's ownership structure. In 2021, when the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) acquired 80% of the club's shares, Amanda Staveley played a crucial role in facilitating the deal and became a 10% shareholder, serving as a club director.
Now, PIF and RB Sports & Media will increase their stakes in Newcastle United as part of a long-term plan to develop the club and transform it into a formidable competitor in both domestic and European competitions. The new equity structure will see PIF controlling approximately 85% of the club, with RB Sports & Media holding the remaining 15% of the shares.
We previously reported that Newcastle are in talks to sign the former Manchester United striker.
