Newcastle co-owners have decided to sell their stake and leave the club
Co-owners of Newcastle United, Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi, have decided to sell their stake in the club and leave, SkySports reported.
The Ghodoussis played a key role when the club was acquired by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) in 2021.
The duo initially acquired 10 percent of the club’s shares from Mike Ashley, but over the years, this stake has decreased. Currently, Staveley and Ghodoussi own 6 percent of the club’s shares.
Staveley was at the helm when Newcastle returned to the Champions League after a 20-year absence and led them to the final of the Cup at Wembley.
It is expected that the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund will buy out their share of the club.
We previously reported that Newcastle are in talks to sign the former Manchester United striker.
