Financial fair-play in the English Premier League is one of the most brutal among the top leagues. And, obviously, it has an impact on all teams. Newcastle are no exception in this regard.

This was recognised by the head coach of the "forty" Eddie Howe, who noted that because of it the team needs to sell young players in order not to run into withdrawal of points or other trouble:

"The financial fair-play issues we faced in June were very big and very difficult for us. I think we came out of that situation as well as we could. It's very sad to lose two young players [Jankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson], it's a big loss for us.

But we went out there to keep the majority of the squad together. I believe we don't need to put ourselves in a position where we need to sell players. But the rules and regulations that are in place now... I don't know what it will look like in a year's time," Howe told Sky Sports.
