Crystal Palace are still reluctant to let go of their defender Marc Guehi to Newcastle, and now the Magpies are set to enter the race for another player.
The alternatives to the England defender being considered at the club have been named by The Athletic, and there are two so far: Bayer player Edson Tapsoba and Chelsea representative Axel Disassi.
So far, there are no specifics and it is not known whether Bayer and Chelsea are ready to let their players go to Newcastle, and if they are, on what terms.
Recall that Disasi missed the team's pre-season training due to a hernia and did not play in the match against Manchester City. Tapsoba last season became one of the stars of champion Bayer, who in addition to winning the championship and the German Cup reached the final of the Europa League.
The deal for Guehi fell through due to a disagreement in financial demands. Newcastle are ready to offer £60m, while Crystal Palace want £10m more.
