The Magpies have run into financial trouble.

Details: According to renowned and reliable journalist and insider Ben Jacobs on his X social media page, Newcastle United has reached a settlement with UEFA over a breach of the Financial Sustainability Regulations for the three-year reporting period ending in June 2025.

It is reported that, as part of the settlement, the English club has agreed to pay an unconditional fine of €3 million, as well as a conditional fine of €7 million, which could be enforced if the set requirements are not met.

Additionally, UEFA separately fined the Magpies another €3 million for exceeding the allowed squad cost ratio (SCR), which in 2025 should not have surpassed 70%.

Newcastle stated that the club has cooperated with UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) and managed to resolve the issue swiftly. Now, the management must bring the club’s financial indicators in line with European football’s requirements to avoid further sanctions in the future.
