The Dutch midfielder, Danielle van de Donk, and the Australian defender, Ellie Carpenter, who play for Lyon in France, marked the onset of 2024 in a special way.

The football players, who have been together for about two years, announced their engagement on their Instagram pages yesterday. They posted a joint photo against the backdrop of the ocean, with Carpenter displaying the engagement ring.

"My person for life", – Carpenter captioned the photo.

Interestingly, there is a 9-year age difference between the athletes. Carpenter is 23 years old, while van de Donk is 32.

Despite her young age, Carpenter has already played 71 matches for the Australian national team. She became the youngest football player in the history of her national team at the Olympics. Van de Donk has played 150 matches and scored 36 goals for the Netherlands national team.
