New Man Utd problems: Amorim loses Zirkzee's trust
Newly appointed Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim found himself in a difficult situation after replacing Joshua Zirkzee after just 33 minutes against Newcastle. The substitution, which came with the score 2-0 in the opponent's favour, left the striker disgruntled, who left the pitch and headed for the tunnel. Zirkzee then returned to the bench, and United failed to turn the game around and lost.
According to former Premier League midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker, Ruben Amorim will now be seen as enemy number one by his players:
"It's a tough experience for a player and a tough test for Ruben Amorim," he told BBC Radio 5 Live.
He believes a player can be polite to Amorim, but in his heart he will no longer respect him. Reo-Coker stressed the importance of taking a human approach in such situations and admitted that the manager will learn from this.
Amorim continues to face difficulties in his role as Manchester United manager. The team's results have worsened since the sacking of Erik ten Hag, and questions for the new manager have only increased. Recent decisions, such as the promotion of Zirkzee and Højlund to attack in the absence of Eriksen and Casemiro, have only made matters worse for the team, who faced a more energetic Newcastle side.
