New Kobe Bryant documentary to revisit controversial sexual assault case
A new CNN documentary titled Kobe: The Making of a Legend will delve deep into the life of NBA icon Kobe Bryant, with a significant focus on the 2003 sexual assault allegations against him.
The alleged victim of the assault is reported to appear in the film, which premieres this Saturday. The documentary will include footage of her police interview, offering viewers a closer look at the case.
The alleged incident occurred at The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera in Edwards, Colorado, where Bryant was staying for a minor medical procedure. It is claimed that the victim, who worked at the hotel’s reception, was invited to Bryant's room, where he allegedly engaged in non-consensual sexual contact with her.
The case went to court but was dropped a year later after the victim chose not to continue cooperating with prosecutors.
Bryant admitted to having an extramarital affair with his wife, Vanessa, but maintained that the encounter was consensual and denied any wrongdoing.
The documentary aims to provide a comprehensive look at Bryant's life, including this controversial chapter, while also celebrating his legacy as one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
