Following Orlando Pirates' early announcement that head coach Jose Rivero would leave the South African club by the end of his June 2025 contract, rumours began to swirl around his name and his future after that.

Orlando Pirates fans will have a nice chance to say goodbye to their coach on Saturday when Orlando Pirates take on the Golden Arrows. The club announced the coach's departure after losing the Nedbank Cup final to Kaizer Chiefs 2-1.

Jose Rivero's name association with Al Ahly?

According to Yalla Kora, a source familiar with Al Ahly news, the club has personally contacted the Spanish coach to replace the departure of Swiss Marcel Koller.

Jose Rivero has faced Al Ahly twice this season in the CAF Champions League, once winning 2-1 in Egypt and drawing 0-0 in Orlando.
