Nelson, who suffered an ankle injury that dashed her hopes of qualifying for the Paris Olympics, initially planned to return to athletics. However, a single message changed her trajectory.
Adelle Nicoll, a former British shot put champion turned bobsledder, reached out to Nelson and encouraged her to try bobsleigh. Initially, Nelson laughed off the idea, but just six months later, she found herself a member of Great Britain’s bobsleigh team.
“I keep giggling because I am like, “How have I ended up here?” It’s all happened so quickly. But I’ll give it absolutely everything and if I make the Olympics, I will be absolutely ecstatic. It would mean a lot to me,” Nelson shared.
The former sprinter has already made her debut on the bobsleigh circuit, competing in the World Cup stage in Winterberg.
