Negreira to undergo examination to determine whether he can testify
FC Barcelona remains embroiled in legal proceedings related to the Negreira case, and a truly significant development may occur soon.
Details: According to Jose Padilla, the judge has ordered José María Enríquez Negreira to undergo a forensic medical examination. The aim is to determine whether he is capable of testifying in court regarding the receipt of €8.4 million from Barcelona.
As previously reported, despite years of investigation, key questions remain unanswered. Investigators have still not received a clear explanation as to why the club paid money to companies linked to the former vice-president of the referees’ committee, José María Enríquez Negreira, and what exactly Barcelona received — or expected to receive — in return for those payments.
This uncertainty surrounding the purpose of the payments and the potential benefits for the club only increases the legal risks. If the case is referred to criminal court, it could carry not only sporting consequences but also serious legal ramifications for those involved.
Reminder: Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has informed the club’s current management that he is fully open to signing a new contract. However, there is one condition.
