Lukas Podolski may soon become the owner of Górnik Zabrze. Negotiations over the club’s privatization, which has been owned by the city for many years, have reached the home stretch.
The World Cup winner has long expressed his intention to acquire Górnik. According to TVP Sport journalist Rafal Kendziora, the deal could be finalized by the end of April.
It’s worth noting that Podolski, who has played for the club in recent years, has made no secret of his desire to remain part of the team’s structure after hanging up his boots. The sale process has dragged on, repeatedly drawing criticism from the player himself. He has openly voiced his frustration with the slow pace of negotiations, urging decision-makers to speed things up.
Against this backdrop, Górnik is enjoying one of its best seasons in recent years. During the 2025/26 campaign, the team sits third in the Ekstraklasa and has already reached the Polish Cup final, further elevating the significance of possible changes to the club’s structure.
