Saudi sports executive and one of the most influential figures in world boxing, Turki Al Al-Sheikh, is poised to become an investor in English side Derby County. According to the Daily Mail, representatives of the Saudi businessman have already held talks with club owner David Clowes.

Currently, the potential deal is under review by the Independent Football Regulator (IFR) of England, which must assess whether the prospective investor meets the new requirements for club owners and directors.

Particular attention is being paid to the fact that the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) already holds a controlling stake in Newcastle United. The regulator must ensure that Al Al-Sheikh's potential investment in Derby will not create a conflict of interest within English football.

In recent weeks, Turki Al Al-Sheikh has shown increased interest in the club. Notably, he has started following Derby County's official social media accounts, further fueling speculation about his possible involvement in the project.

It's worth noting that this wouldn't be Al Al-Sheikh's first foray into football. He has previously owned clubs in Egypt and Spain, and now looks set to expand his footprint in English football.
