Ndidi Named New Super Eagles Captain

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have officially appointed Wilfred Ndidi as their new captain ahead of AFCON 2025, following the retirements of Ahmed Musa and William Troost-Ekong. The Besiktas midfielder steps into the role after serving as stand-in captain on several occasions.

Reacting to the announcement, Ndidi said “the responsibility meant everything to him,” as he prepares to lead the team. With Musa and Troost-Ekong stepping away, the experienced midfielder has now been trusted with full leadership duties. He is expected to guide Nigeria through qualifiers and the tournament next year successfully.
