Renowned American basketball player James Harden has found himself at the center of a major scandal. The NBA star was arrested in Houston on charges of illegal possession of a firearm.
According to the New York Post, the 36-year-old was taken into custody by police officers early on the morning of June 13. Law enforcement reported that a handgun was discovered in Harden's vehicle, left in plain sight and not secured in a holster.
Case files allege that the basketball player "knowingly and intentionally" possessed the firearm in violation of current laws. As a result, he was charged with a misdemeanor related to unlawful carrying of a weapon. Harden was later released on bail the same day. A court hearing in the case is scheduled for June 22.
