NBA 2020 champion cleared of sexual assault charges against a man
The sexual assault charges against NBA champion Dwight Howard from the 2020 season have been dropped, reported be Courtsidebuzzig.
It is reported that Steven Harper, the man who had previously filed the lawsuit, has withdrawn all his accusations.
To recap, Harper accused the NBA star of sexual assault and physical harm in July 2021. However, Harper first contacted the police about the incident a year later, in July 2022, and filed a lawsuit in July 2023.
Dwight Howard maintained that the encounter was "entirely consensual."
Howard, a seven-time consecutive NBA All-Star, has been named to the All-NBA First Team five times and to the NBA All-Defensive First Team four times. He was also recognized as the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
Additionally, Howard won a bronze medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship, a gold medal at the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship, and an Olympic gold medal in 2008 in Beijing with Team USA.
