Napoli targets Chelsea defender: negotiations underway, but a major obstacle remains
The Neapolitans are looking to bolster the heart of their defense.
Details: Napoli has taken the first step toward signing central defender Benoît Badiashile. According to Nicolo Schira, the Neapolitans have already entered into negotiations with Chelsea, hoping to secure a loan deal with an option to buy.
However, the London club is holding firm. Chelsea prefers either a permanent transfer this summer or a loan with a mandatory purchase clause at the end of the season.
Badiashile is under contract with the English club until 2031, so the final decision rests with the Blues' management. Despite the differences in conditions, both parties continue to discuss possible scenarios for the deal.
Talks are still at an early stage, and the coming days could prove decisive for the French defender's future.
Last season, Badiashile made only 16 appearances for Chelsea without registering a goal or assist. His market value is estimated at €15 million by Transfermarkt.
