Legendary Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal missed the chance to win his first ATP title in over two years.

On the clay courts in Bastad, Sweden, at the ATP 250 series tournament, the former world No. 1 lost to his Portuguese opponent, Nuno Borges. The match lasted 1 hour and 28 minutes and ended in two sets with a victory for the world No. 51.

Nadal did not serve any aces and made 3 double faults. Notably, the Spaniard had only 5 winners and a staggering 22 unforced errors.

ATP Bastad. Clay. Final
Nuno Borges (Portugal, 51) — Rafael Nadal (Spain, 261) — 6:3, 6:2.

With this tournament, the legendary Rafa concluded his preparation for the Paris Olympics, where he will compete in both the singles and doubles events with Carlos Alcaraz. It is worth mentioning that Nadal hasn't won anything since his victory at Roland Garros in 2022. Incidentally, the Olympic tennis tournament will be held on the same courts.
