Nadal might not play in the singles event at the Olympics
Rafael Nadal trained this morning under the roof of Philippe Chatrier Stadium due to the rain. The Spanish tennis player wore a noticeable bandage on his right thigh but played normally alongside other Spanish players in doubles: his partner Carlos Alcaraz, as well as the pair Pablo Carreno and Marcel Granollers.
It's worth noting that Nadal didn't train with Alexander Zverev as planned yesterday. Later, in an interview with Onda Cero, his coach Carlos Moya couldn't guarantee his participation in these Games, causing some concern.
"He encountered a minor issue, so he decided to rest. I can't guarantee anything; we'll have to wait. The decision on his participation hasn't been made yet," said Moya, who attended the training along with Spain's team captain David Ferrer.
Ferrer confirmed that Nadal will participate in tomorrow's doubles match, as he trained well today. He added that doubles require less intensity than singles, where one needs to be in excellent physical shape.
"I'm confident that Rafa will play in doubles tomorrow because he trained well today. We'll see how he feels. Doubles require less intensity than singles, where you need to be in top physical condition," concluded Spain's captain.
Additionally, if Nadal does play in the singles event, he could face Novak Djokovic in the second round.
