Uruguayan giants Nacional are facing disciplinary proceedings after a violent altercation in their home stadium resulted in a fan being stabbed. As FútbolUy reported, the incident took place early in Sunday’s match against Defensor Sporting at the Gran Parque Central, specifically in the Abdón Porte stand.

According to the AUF Security Commission’s report, the altercation involved two Nacional supporters who began arguing and quickly escalated to punches—ending with one fan stabbing the other. The victim was taken to a medical facility and has reportedly declined to file a formal complaint.

Despite that, the incident was referred to the General Directorate of Sports Security, and the AUF’s Disciplinary Commission has opened an official investigation. Nacional must now submit a formal statement regarding the episode.

Club president Ricardo Vairo acknowledged the incident on El Espectador radio, stating that they are reviewing security footage and gathering details. Although the stadium is equipped with facial recognition systems managed by the Interior Ministry, the individuals involved have yet to be identified.

Nacional hopes that identifying those responsible will help reduce any potential sanctions, as concerns over fan violence continue to plague Uruguayan football.
