Christantus Uche has confirmed that his knee injury is serious and vowed to return stronger after the setback.

The Nigerian international suffered the injury during Getafe's pre-season friendly against French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco last week and is expected to miss the entire 2026/27 season.

Following further medical examinations, Uche confirmed the severity of the injury and admitted that the lengthy spell on the sidelines will be one of the toughest challenges of his career.

Uche also used social media to thank Getafe supporters and everyone who has sent messages of encouragement since the injury.

In an emotional message shared on Instagram, the Nigerian admitted that accepting the situation has been difficult but insisted that he is ready to face the challenge.

“Today is one of the hardest days of my career. Following the latest medical tests, it has been confirmed that my knee injury is serious and that I will have to face a long recovery process,” Uche wrote on Instagram.

“I won’t lie: accepting that I will be away from the pitch for a while is tough. Football is my passion, my job, and what makes me happiest, and now I have to face a situation I never imagined. But challenges are also part of the journey.

“I am going to face this period with strength, patience, and determination, working every day to get back to doing what I love most: playing football.

“And a special thanks to all the fans who have sent me messages of support. This is just a chapter, not the end of the story.”
