Munich authorities approve renaming of address and square around Allianz Arena
The Munich authorities have decided to approve the renaming of the street and square where the Allianz Arena is located.
Details: According to Bayern & Germany, Munich's mayor, Dieter Reiter, confirmed that the area surrounding the stadium will now be named in honor of the legendary footballer Franz Beckenbauer.
Quote: "He is one of the greatest athletes our city has ever produced," he stated.
Reminder: Beckenbauer began his football career with Bayern Munich in the mid-1960s and went on to spend most of his playing career with the club. From 1970 to 1977, he captained Bayern.
In total, he played over 400 matches in the Bundesliga. His distinctive style of play was characterized by frequent involvement in his team's attacking actions, allowing him to score goals regularly. Franz was fully committed to the game and had no tolerance for simulation from either his own teammates or opponents.
In other news, Bayern Munich thrashed Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 in the UEFA Champions League, becoming the first team in the tournament's history to score nine goals in a single match.
