English Premier League club Sunderland continue to monitor Sporting Lisbon winger Geny Catamo.

Details: According to Sky Sport, the Black Cats are considering returning to the 25-year-old Mozambique international during the winter transfer window as they look to strengthen the right side of their attack.

Last summer, Sunderland were ready to pay around €40 million for the player, but the Portuguese club insisted on the full release clause stipulated in his contract, which stands at €60 million. This time, the English side are hoping to limit their offer to around €35 million, although the final decision depends on the club’s management approving the transfer budget internally.

The situation is complicated by serious competition in the transfer market: Newcastle United, Everton, Leeds United, Bournemouth and Brentford are also keeping a close eye on Catamo’s performances. Sunderland head coach Régis Le Bris sees the Mozambique winger as an ideal candidate to add to his team’s attacking arsenal thanks to his ability to cut inside and create danger from the flank.

In the 2026/27 season, Catamo has made 12 appearances, scored two goals and provided four assists. Transfermarkt value the player at €35 million.
