The Senegalese tactician firmly believes in his Lionesses' chances and is looking beyond the continental tournament.

Senegal is preparing for its participation in the African Women's Cup of Nations, which will take place from 17 March to 3 April. The team has been training in Dakar since 23 February.

With just a few weeks to go before the competition kicks off, Mame Moussa Cisse has clearly stated his team's objectives. For him, the Senegalese team has one strength: youth and experience. Thanks to this balance, the Lionesses' coach is thinking big. As the African Women's Cup of Nations is a qualifier for the 2027 Women's World Cup, Mame Moussa Cisse wants to reach the semi-finals of the continental tournament with his young players in order to qualify.

We have a group of young players mentored by older ones. They now know what it takes to compete at the highest level in Africa. The criteria for all selections are the same: talent, skills, competitiveness, experience at the highest level and the ability to integrate into our group. This AFCON is a qualifier for the 2027 World Cup. Our ambition is to do better than the last two and reach the semi-finals to qualify our country for the first time for a Women's World Cup.
