Mourning in Cameroonian football: Legrand Kuissi, the iconic captain of Stade Renard, has died
The Cameroonian football is in mourning following the announcement of the death of Legrand Kuissi, the iconic captain of the Cameroonian league club, Stade Renard de Melong.
According to reports in the Cameroonian press, the domestic-based international had been suffering from back pain for several months, an ailment that had gradually sidelined him before the end of the 2025–2026 season. Despite medical treatment, his condition reportedly did not improve, leading to his death, which was announced on Thursday 27 August.
A former defensive stalwart for Stade Renard de Melong, Legrand Kuissi was also a true leader, both on and off the pitch. Through his commitment, his fighting spirit and his love for the shirt, he left a lasting mark on the history of the Cameroonian club.
His passing is a heavy loss not only for Stade Renard de Melong but also for Cameroonian football as a whole. The club has thus lost one of its most iconic figures and a player who defended its colours with great determination.
