Egypt claimed a victory over AFCON contenders Nigeria in a friendly played in Cairo on Tuesday night. The hosts opened the scoring just before the half-hour when Mahmoud Saber tapped in at the back post after clever work from Zizo, who troubled Nigeria all evening. Nigeria struggled for fluency but found a route back into the game when Zaidu’s free kick was spilled by Mohamed El Shenawy, allowing Chidozie Awaziem to head in from close range.
Egypt responded strongly after the break, with Zizo again creating space for Mostafa Mohamed to fire home the winner. Nigeria could not find another reply as Egypt closed out the match.
