Mosimane brings key players back into South Africa squad: lineup announced ahead of two matches against Kenya
South Africa head coach Pitso Mosimane has announced his preliminary squad for two consecutive matches against Kenya in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The squad features 38 players, including several key figures who missed the previous camp.
Mbekezeli Mbokaze, Talente Mbatha, Lebogang Maboe and Luke le Roux have all returned to the national team. The coach also highlighted the strong form of several players by calling up Thalassani Mbandjwa, Aiden McCarthy, Nkosisikhona Radebe, Devin Titus, Botumelo Radiopane and Nksaba Xulu.
However, striker Evidence Makgopa remains absent from the squad. Yanele Mbutuma, who featured in the previous camp ahead of matches against Guinea, Eritrea and Egypt, has not been called up this time.
Mbokaze's return gives the coaching staff more options when selecting the centre-backs, with Ime Okon and Olwethu Makhanya also available. Maboe, who missed the previous camp due to injury, will add further competition in midfield.
Bafana Bafana will be aiming to win both encounters with Kenya and strengthen their position in the race to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations.
