Morocco have been dealt a major setback ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with key duo Nayef Aguerd and Abdessamad Ezzalzouli officially ruled out of the tournament through injury.

The two players have been removed from Morocco's final World Cup squad just days before the Atlas Lions begin their campaign against Brazil.

Ezzalzouli suffered a knee ligament sprain during Morocco's recent friendly against Norway, while Aguerd has been sidelined by a groin injury that will prevent him from participating in the tournament.

In response, Morocco have turned to their standby list, calling up defender Marwane Saadane and winger Amine Sbai as replacements.

The Atlas Lions will kick off their World Cup journey on Saturday with a blockbuster clash against Brazil at MetLife Stadium. They will then continue their Group Stage campaign against Scotland and Haiti.
