Morocco secure their place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup
By reaching the semi-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the Atlas Lionesses have secured one of the four direct places allocated to teams reaching the last four of the tournament, which is being held in Morocco.
Morocco will take part in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, to be held in Brazil in the summer of 2027. The Moroccan women secured their place thanks to their victory over South Africa in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Atlas Lionesses beat the Banyana Banyana 2–1 on Saturday 8 August. This valuable victory not only takes Morocco through to the semi-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, but also qualifies them for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Moroccan team have secured one of the four places reserved directly for teams reaching the last four of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
