The prosecution had, however, sought harsher sentences.
The 18 Senegalese fans who have been imprisoned in Morocco since the Africa Cup of Nations final in Rabat now know their fate for certain. Prosecuted for incidents that occurred during the final on 18 January 2026, the Rabat Court of Appeal upheld the sentences originally imposed on them, despite the prosecution calling on Monday 13 April for harsher sentences.
Nine of the 18 supporters will serve a one-year prison sentence and pay a fine of 5,000 dirhams, whilst the sentences of three to six months’ imprisonment are upheld for the other supporters, who will have to pay fines of 2,000 and 1,000 dirhams respectively.
