Monterrey Chase Knockout Spot in Must-Win Clash Against Urawa

Rayados de Monterrey will take on Urawa Red Diamonds on Wednesday at 10:00 PM local time at the Rose Bowl, with everything at stake in the final Group E matchday of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. After drawing both previous games, Monterrey must beat the Japanese side — already eliminated — and hope for a favorable result between River Plate and Inter Milan.
A Monterrey win combined with a River-Inter winner would see the Mexicans advance. If that game ends in a draw, tiebreakers such as goals scored against Inter or overall goal difference will come into play. A 0-0 draw in Seattle would benefit Rayados; a 2-2 would send River through.
Germán Berterame, Sergio Canales, and Lucas Ocampos lead Monterrey’s attack, while Urawa will rotate after back-to-back losses. Qualification will be decided in real time, with both matches kicking off simultaneously.
