Mohamed Sherif talks about the truth behind his name being linked to Zamalek

The Saudi-based Egyptian international has broken his silence regarding the swirling speculation about a potential move to Zamalek. With a tone of bemusement, Sherif clarified that reports of a 50 million EGP signing fee were nothing more than fiction. "There's been no contact whatsoever from Zamalek's planning committee," the Al-Khaleej striker revealed, specifically mentioning that Ahmed Hossam Mido hadn't reached out regarding any summer transfer discussions.
While acknowledging the possibility of backchannel talks between his agent and the Cairo giants, Sherif maintained he remained completely unaware of any such conversations. His current contractual obligations with the Saudi club, he emphasized, remain firmly in place until the season's conclusion.
The conversation took a reflective turn as Sherif revisited his complicated history with Zamalek. He recounted how the club had initially secured his signature years ago, only to abruptly withdraw from the deal during negotiations for Mohamed Antar. This unexpected turn of events ultimately led to his subsequent move to Al-Ahly, a transfer that materialized following a match in Alexandria and marked his introduction to Egyptian domestic football.
Regarding his future prospects, the experienced forward adopted a philosophical stance. Sherif admitted he hadn't yet determined whether his next career move would see him returning to Egyptian football through Al-Ahly or continuing his professional journey abroad. What remains non-negotiable, he stressed, is finding an environment where his contributions are truly valued - a consideration that will take precedence over any rushed decisions about his next destination.
The revelation casts doubt on Zamalek's transfer strategy while highlighting Sherif's cautious approach to career moves. As the summer window approaches, the striker's next decision could significantly impact the balance of power in Egyptian football, particularly if a return to Al-Ahly materializes. For now, Sherif appears content focusing on his current commitments while carefully weighing his options for the future.
