Egypt lost to Senegal in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final and exited the tournament. One of the team’s leaders endured a disastrous outing in the process.

Details: According to Opta, for the first time in all of his appearances at the Africa Cup of Nations, Mohamed Salah failed to register a single touch inside the opposition penalty area despite spending more than 45 minutes on the pitch.

Salah played the full 90 minutes but was unable to create a single chance. He did not attempt a single shot, either on target or off target. He lost possession 14 times and completed just nine passes. A poor performance from the leader and captain of the Egypt national team.

Reminder: In the 40th minute, Mohamed Salah committed a foul on Sadio Mané, and the reaction from the players and coaching staff was immediate.
