In La Liga matchweek 25, Real Madrid hosted Girona and secured a 2-0 victory. Luka Modrić was among the scorers and achieved a new milestone.

Details: According to Opta, Modrić became only the second oldest player in Europe’s top five leagues to create six or more chances in a single match. He accomplished this at the age of 39 years and 167 days. The only other player to achieve this was Benjamin Nivet for Troyes against Metz in February 2018.

Additionally, Modrić has now scored 11 goals from long-range strikes, making him one of the leaders in this category among Europe’s top five leagues.

Notably, this was Modrić’s second goal in the current La Liga campaign. The Croatian has now become just the seventh player in the competition’s history to score at least twice in a single season at the age of 39.

Reminder: Earlier reports suggested that Real Madrid was considering using Tchouaméni in a swap deal for Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández. The Los Blancos were reportedly open to offering the Frenchman to facilitate a move for the Argentine, who has been linked with a switch to Madrid.
