Minus Title Contender? Arsenal Fall Flat in Away Loss to Newcastle

Arsenal traveled to face Newcastle in their Premier League Round 10 clash, needing a result to keep pace with Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the table.

However, the match didn’t go as planned for Mikel Arteta's side.

From the outset, Arsenal struggled to generate anything in attack, while Newcastle made the most of their first real opportunity.

In the 12th minute, Alexander Isak was quickest to react in the visitors’ penalty area, heading in a pinpoint cross from Anthony Gordon.

Throughout the remainder of the first half and into the second, Arsenal failed to create any significant danger near the Newcastle goal. The match ended with a lifeless performance and fail from Arteta’s side.

If Manchester City and Liverpool secure victories in their respective matches later today, they’ll pull eight and seven points clear of Arsenal, respectively.
