Millonarios Eyes Atlético Nacional Champion Millonarios Eyes Atlético Nacional Champion

After a frustrating end to their Liga BetPlay campaign, Millonarios is already moving in the transfer market. Head coach David González has reportedly made his first request to the club’s board: the signing of Álex Castro, a 31-year-old winger and former Atlético Nacional champion.

According to RCN journalist Jordy Triana, Castro has yet to renew with Deportes Tolima, which could allow Millonarios to begin negotiations. González, who previously coached him at Tolima, sees the experienced forward as a key addition to a squad that suffered numerous injuries during the first half of 2025—especially in attack, with absences like Daniel Cataño, Falcao, Jader Valencia and top scorer Leonardo Castro.

“Álex Castro is one of the names David asked the board for. The winger hasn’t renewed with Tolima yet,” Triana reported. He also mentioned that the club secured 70% of Kevin Palacios’ rights and that Álvaro Montero will remain at Millonarios for now.

Castro’s time at Nacional saw him play 55 matches, score five goals, provide six assists and win the 2021 Copa BetPlay. If the deal goes through, his arrival could mark a crucial step in Millonarios’ efforts to rebuild and contend once again.
